Basketball installation involves choosing an appropriate spot, carefully digging to avoid underground utilities, mixing concrete and setting the pole or anchor bolts, and finally assembling the system to make sure everything is straight and plum.

Choosing a spot for your new basketball installation is up to you. It is ultimately your decision where exactly you want the system to be placed, how far from the playing surface you would like the pole set back, and which way you would like it facing. Setting the pole back away from the driveway will reduce the chance of it getting hit by a car but also reduces the amount of play area under the backboard.

Setting the correct direction of the basketball goal is important as well. Most of the time you want to follow the lines on the house keeping the backboard plum with the side of the house unless your driveway curves and you lose a side shot. Most homeowner associations ask that you place the goal up towards the house and not towards the road.

Our installers can help with suggestions but is your basketball goal and your property. Basketball installations are usually a two day process.

Day 1: involves carefully digging a hole to pour the concrete footing for the pole or anchor bolts. We do not use power tools for digging because of the possibility of unknown utilities. Even with utilities marked, sprinkler lines could be present. The size of the hole will depend on the manufacturer’s recommendations and the soil type. Loose soil or fill dirt may need more concrete than hard compact dirt so the installer may adjust the amount of concrete used at each site. Once this process is complete, the concrete should set for at least 36 hours with sun. Cloudy or wet conditions could prolong the installation.

Day 2: involves assembling the rim, backboard and support system and attaching to the pole. Basketball goals that are fixed height will be set at the regulation height of 10 feet unless specified by the owner. Families with children may want to consider an adjustable height system that will allow them to lower the height of the goal so everyone can enjoy scoring.

We can also remove your old basketball installation to make way for your new one. We remove the old goal as well a-s the concrete and haul them away. The cost of most removals with the installation of a new AtlantaHoops goal is $0 depending on the size of the concrete footing. The cost with a customer provided basketball goal is $50 depending on the size of the concrete footing. Removal with no new installation will be priced by the hour.

We can install full courts and half courts and help with driveway extensions. Line painting is also available for outdoor courts and can include perimeter, foul line and key and three point arch.
